Today March 13th 2013, at 4AM, Hoa Tam Charity Group lead by Quy Luan Musician departed the first visit for charity at Ben Tre. Our members are including: Quy Luan Musician, Tam Hanh, Huu Tho Singer, Mai Yen Chi Singer, Luu Anh Loan Singer, Ly Nguyen and Anh Thai.

About 8.30AM we arrived to Phu Loc hamlet, An Dinh commune, Mo Cay district, Ben Tre province. With the support and guidance of Chan Nguyen Buddhist Nun (Master Nun of Khanh Linh Pagoda, Binh Khanh Dong commune, Mo Cay, Ben Tre) and local residents and Bhuddists, we visited each poor family to find out about their life. This place is remote area, so in order to come to those poor families, we must pass narrow and rough pathway and unsteady bridges which only one motorbike can pass by two side of deep ditch and dangerous nipa forest.

The first place where we – Hoa Tam Group – visited was Mr.Tran Van Chau’s family. His family is so poor. He has 2 sons in the age of 3 and 14. The main job of poor families here is knitting rattan chairs. A finished chair takes 3 days with the pay of 60,000VND per chair. How can he pay for his family’s living and school fee for his sons? But it’s not enough for him. In a morning 4 months ago, his wife died suddenly while she was knitting rattan chairs. So now only himself has to pay for the living of his 84-year-old Mother and 2 sons. His first son studied very well with certificate of merit every year but he had to stop his education after his mom’s death because of no school fee. Talking to us, Mr.Chau’s mother was almost moved to tears in a voice choked with emotion. Maybe poor and sorrow made her cannot cry. All of us felt so sad. In this life, there are still many poor lifes that need our sharing and helping!

The sorrow on 84-year-old Chau’s mother.

Mr.Tran Van Quoi’s family is more poorer. When we arrived, we was moved to tears to see his hut. His only property is unsteady hut inclined struss which can collapse anytime. The roof is empty, full of cobweb. His property are only 1 old aluminum basin, 1 plastic bowl and 2 chipped dishes on the old bamboo shelf. Now he’s 89 years old. He has 2 sons who are both very poor. They even don’t have rice to eat. So they can’t take care of their old father. His two hands are paralysed and he can’t hols anything. Talking to us, he sometimes stop to breath difficultly. Tam Hanh asked him “You live alone in this so remote hut without neighbours surrounding. So how can you manage if there’s any problem for you? Why don’t you live with your sons?”. He answered “My sons worked very far. I don’t have any relatives. So I must live alone and give my life to God’s discretion”. Tam Hanh held his hands and cried.

Mr.Tran Van Quoi

And there are still many poor lifes that we visited as families of Mr.Hung, Mr.Nguyen Van Phuc, Mr.Nguyen Minh Can, Ms.Tran Thi Gai, Mr.Nguyen Van On who has kidney disease and his wife with tumor hyperthyroidism. When seeing us, Mr.Nguyen Van On and his wife cry and can’t say anything. There are many, many poor families in bad hut with children who can’t go to school because of no money. No one can be poorer than them.
